NoipFraud

SFTP and SSH Installation Guide

#installation

🚨 Please note this is an advanced guide and should only be attempted if you have a basic understanding of servers and SFTP/SSH

We generally recommend its installed on the server/domain which your webpages are already installed on. As this will give you the most options with the software once it is installed.

There are NO limits to the number of Noipfraud installs you have, so it’s best if possible to install it on your servers/domains of your landing pages whenever possible.

There are some base requirements need to run Noipfraud on your server those are listed below

Shared Hosting

We do NOT recommend is installing Noipfraud on a “shared host” or “shared hosting”.

These types of hosts are very difficult to work with and in most cases just won’t work at all with the software.

Here are the base requirements

Please note that most servers have these extensions installed by default, however some may not. When installing the software it will identify if these extensions are missing and let you know what needs to be installed.

If your server is missing some of these extensions and you can’t or are unfamiliar with installing them its best to reach out to support

Installing

Every server is different and we can not guarantee support for every server. We can try to help if you run into specific issues during this install process.

First you will need a ftp client most are free and these are some of the most common/popular ones:

Next follow these steps:

  1. Use FTP to access your server Document root, (eg /var/www/html or /usr/share/nginx)‍
  2. Create a folder for your Noipfraud client in the Document Root. Name this folder something generic like “blog”, “shop”, “page”, “track”.Do NOT name it “Noip” or “Noipfraud”
  3. Download the Noipfraud zip file from https://noipfraud.com/download/latest
  4. Unzip the Noipfraud Zip you Downloaded locally and upload the files/folders from the zip to the folder created above
  5. Ensure correct permissions

File Permissions

Make sure the uploaded files have the right user/group ownership and file permissions.

The api folder needs to be writable by the webserver. In most cases this would be 755 or 775.

Ensure that the user and group match those of other web files.

Unfortunately, not all servers are the same, so it’s best to check your FTP client for the user/group of other files in the web folder (public_html).

For example, with WordPress sites, the group and user is often “www-data”.

Config Screen

Open the config page in your browser by appending /app to the URL for the noip folder: https://your-domain.com/folder/app.

So if your domain is mydomain.com and you uploaded Noipfraud to the shop folder in your document root, you would open the URL: https://your-domain.com/shop/app in your browser.

403 Forbidden Error

Note: if you are seeing a “forbidden 403” error when you attempt to load this page it’s likely that in step above the permissions or group/user were not set correctly. Please contact us at support if you are having trouble getting this page to load.‍

Self Check

You should first see Noipfraud doing a self check to make sure your server is configured correctly. It will show any issues it finds. If it mentions APC - don’t worry about this - its optional and not important if you don’t know about it.

_Please note that if you see any issues where extensions are missing feel free to contact us at support for help installing._‍
